Teen Martial Arts

Ages 13-17 Tue & Thu 6:00pm, Sat 11:15am

Teenagers quit martial arts more often than any other group, and in our experience it is usually because they have been left in a class built for nine-year-olds. This program exists so that does not happen. The syllabus is the same traditional karate core, but the pace is faster, the conditioning is real, and the sparring is closer to full speed with proper protective gear. We also fold in standing grappling and clinch work, because the situations teenagers actually find themselves in rarely look like a tournament match. Students arriving from another school or another style are assessed individually and placed where they belong, not started over at white belt. Several of our teen students assist in the Little Dragons classes, which counts toward their black belt requirements and is usually the thing that keeps them training.
